By any measure, it's a marvel...At 60,546 sq ft this carpet is larger than a soccer field and took 18 months and 1,200 weavers to make. Red and green in color, it has over 2.2 billion knots and was assembled in 9 pieces. It took 38 tons of wool and cotton to complete the task.
Woven in Iran’s north-eastern province of Khorasan, the colossal carpet is destined for a mosque in the United Arab Emirates.
It is worth an estimated $5.8 million.
