Waterfront City in Dubai...

Rem Koolhaas concept of the "generic city" may finally see the chance to be constructed in Dubai as a 1.5 billion square foot project called Waterfront City.

Imagine simulating the density of Manhattan on an artificial island just off the Persian Gulf mixing Architectural History "Times" by creating neat rows of Towers (contemporary design), spiraling 82-story Tower (inspired by ninth century Great Mosque) and 44-story sphere (symbolic form of 18th century )

Could this finally establish Dubai as a center of urban experimentation as well as one of the world’s fastest growing metropolises?
